A journey filled with dedication and heart
Some people turn hospitality into an art form. Miguel Cortés is one of them. With 23 years of experience as a bellboy at Hipotels Hipocampo Palace, Miguel embodies the values that define us: commitment, warmth, dedication, and a true love for the job.
From the beginning, Miguel felt this wasn’t just a job, but a place where he truly feels at home, surrounded by colleagues who have become like family. “I love my job, and I’m passionate about what I do,” he says with a genuine smile.
Making guests feel at home
What he enjoys most is interacting with guests. He loves chatting, making people feel comfortable and treating them as he would like to be treated. “I truly enjoy making them feel at home,” he tells us.
That human touch turns a stay at Hipotels into a meaningful experience. After all, nothing compares to being greeted with an authentic smile.
Moments that leave a mark
Over more than two decades, Miguel has had countless memorable moments, but one in particular stands out — when he met the singer Roberto Carlos. “He came to the hotel, we talked... and later he recognised me on the street in Artà. When someone like that remembers you, it’s unforgettable!”
These little but powerful moments are what make this job so special.
Advice for those just starting out
When asked what advice he’d give to someone new to the role, Miguel is clear:
“Come in with enthusiasm. If you show up with the right attitude, everything flows more naturally. The key is to put your heart into it and keep improving every day.”
In hospitality, attitude is everything — it's not just about carrying luggage, it's about creating experiences.
What he’s learned over the years
Miguel has discovered that what really matters in this job is being honest, hardworking and making the most of every opportunity. “Each day brings something new — you just need to embrace every experience.”
A lesson that applies not only to work — but to life itself.
